The frantic read

Day # 126
Hello again, my Husband is still in Ireland! No good news to report, as of yet. I did receive a letter from Immigration late last week and I dropped to my knees in the post office, ripped the letter opened and started reading frantically.
Basically, they had confused our physical address with our mailing address and had been sending letters to our physical address, where of which we cannot receive mail. I had written a letter to them about two months ago explaining the problem. So what did I receive in the mail the other day? This very letter with various highlighted sentences from yours truly at the Immigration Office. I had written the information about our address but below that was a paragraph begging to send my husband home.

I had asked if there was anything we could do to get him home as soon as possible. This section was highlighted. Their response was to call their 1800 number or check our status on line. I had written in the letter that the people at their 1800 service cannot answer my questions and I'm given different answers by each person I speak to. I was so devastated to receive such a letter from them. My first instinct was to write a not very nice letter back, but I doubt that would help my case. That was the last I've heard from Immigration.

Today I called the 1800 number again and was able to speak to someone who somewhat knew the policies and regulations for Immigration. This is very uncommon. I asked, again, if there was anyway I could have our case sped up. She gave me the option to have our case expedited. She put in a request for us to have our case expedited under severe financial hardship. I am in California as a single mother because we cannot get my husband over here. Due to this fact, it is very hard for me to financial support both us.

On top of that, my husband is in Ireland where there is no work available. Our economy here in America looks like royalty in comparison to Irelands! The Irish economy has crumbled. That is the main reason we are trying to move back to California. We want to start a new life here where my husband can get a good job. I also need to go back to school to become an Addiction Specialist. The education systems are so difference between the two countries, that I need to get my certification in the country I plan on living and working in for some time.

Lets hope the severe financial hardship is granted and our case is sped up! I was told it will take 5-15 days to get an answer. Cross your fingers for us, have us in your prayers and/or thoughts or do a special dance for us if that's what you're into! And if you get a chance, write to Ellen and/or Congress! Thanks for reading and please share!
